Paragraphs: 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 15, 17, 18 (2nd half), 21,

22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31.

In addition, the following recommendations are made on certain paragraphs not immediately connected with our main contention.

Provident Fund (Pensions).

We welcome the proposal made in the Report for a Provident Fund for teachers. We would point out that the use of the term "Pensions" in this connection in the heading of the Report, paragraph 20, is misleading, as what is envisaged is a Provident Fund.

Retirement of Teachers (Paragraph 21).

We recommend that the question of retirement should be left to the Governing Bodies of the Schools, but that the Government should never be asked to contribute to the Provident Fund for a longer period than 35 years for any one person.
